Maygan and Keanu's Maui Wedding Journey
Maygan and Keanu, a local Maui couple, were looking to celebrate their love in a unique way. Rather than opting for a traditional beach wedding, this adventurous pair chose to exchange vows in Kula.
Our team of Maui photographers was excited to be a part of Maygan and Keanu's special day on March 23rd. For months, we had been preparing to capture every moment of their wedding journey, from the intimate getting-ready moments to the grand celebration under Kula’s stars.
How It All Started:
Maygan and Keanu's love story began in an unexpected way - at a paintball gathering of two parasail companies. Maygan accidentally shot Keanu with a paintball, and that chance encounter was the start of their beautiful relationship.
Keanu was eager to propose to Maygan, so he secretly flew to Kauai to buy her engagement ring from a local jeweler. With the help of their friends, Keanu planned a surprise proposal at Eddy Tam Park in Makawao, and Maygan was overjoyed when Keanu popped the question.
During the months of planning their wedding, many of Maygan and Keanu's friends were affected by the Lahaina fires. This compassionate couple opened their home to as many as 13 people in need, showcasing their kindness and generosity.
Their Maui Wedding:
The day began with hair and makeup preparations at the couple's home, where Maygan recreated the hairstyle her mother had on her own wedding day.
The bridesmaids' joyful reactions captured the pure delight on their faces as they laid eyes on Maygan, radiant in her gown, for the first time.
Maygan and Keanu knew they wanted a quiet moment together before the ceremony, and they chose the tranquil setting of Ali'i Kula Lavender Field for their first look.
She tapped his shoulder and the emotions started to flow. What a special way to start this day together!
The couple decided to use this intimate time to read their vows. The tranquility of the lavender fields provided the perfect backdrop for the couple to connect, take a deep breath, and let everything sink in before the commitment they were about to make.
The wedding party took some photos together and got ready to make their way to the ceremony site.
Maygan walked down the aisle accompanied by her father, and Keanu by both of his parents aunty Aileen and uncle Jim, whose faces simply couldn’t hide their joy.
They said “I do” in front of 200 of their loved ones. The celebration took place at the Waiohuli Community Center in Kula and the Christian ceremony was officiated by their pastor from Waipuna Chapel.
After the touching ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a lively cocktail hour with live music, followed by a delicious dinner and dancing. The couple shared their first dance as husband and wife, and the evening was filled with heartfelt toasts, special dances, and joyful celebrations.
Maygan and Keanu's Hawaii wedding was a beautiful reflection of their love and the support of their community. As they embark on this new chapter of their lives, we wish they always look at each other the way they did on this special day. 🥂
